49th RTR - 35th Tank Brigade, north-eastern France, September 1944.
The CDL (Canal Defence Light) was fitted with a new turret housing a powerful carbon-arc searchlight, for night operations. They served during the crossing of the Rhine, together with US Army LVT-4s.
