Les chars Mark I et Mark II entrés en service dans l'armée britannique en 1926, furent utilisés jusqu'en 1941, principalement comme chars d'instruction. Rares ceux qui furent vus au combat. Seulement quelques exemplaires furent utilisés en Grèce et en Afrique du Nord.

The tanks Mark I and Mark II entered in service the British army in 1926, were used until 1941, mainly like tanks of instruction. Rare those which were seen in combat. Only some specimens were used in Greece and North Africa.

 

Vickers Medium Tank Mark I

 

Bien que conçu pour tout type de climat, il rencontra des problèmes dans les sables du désert. Certains modèles furent dotés de panneaux ou amiantés pour réduire la chaleur dans le char mais ces solutions furent inefficace. Ces chars participèrent aux batailles de Mersa Matruh et Tobrouk en 1940-1941.

Although conceived for any type of climate, it encountered problems in sands of the desert. Certain models were equipped with panels or asbestos-covered to reduce heat in the tank but these solutions were ineffective. These tanks took part in the battles of Mersa Matruh and Tobrouk in 1940-1941.
