It was designed to remove obstacles with a dozer blade and with rocket launchers, alongside explosives used to destroy obstacles and fortifications. The goal was to to vastly increase the capabilities of the engineers. The main armament, the twin automatic launcher T94, used T37 7.2 in rockets. A dummy 105 mm gun barrel was mounted in the center of the front face of the turret. Ultimately, the end of the war and the discontinuation of necessary materials led to the cancellation of the T31 project.
