M1 Light Tank

The M2A2 Light Tank had two fixed turrets placed coast at coast on the hull. That of left was armed with a machine-gun of 12.7 mm (.50 cal) and that of right of a machine-gun of 7.62 mm (.30cal). The turret of left was equipped with a cupola of vision for the commander. The first models had turrets in the same model than that of the M2A1. On the following models the turrets were manufactured with vertical armour-plates: 7 for smallest and 8 for largest. The rear deck was angular. The last models will have a synchronized transmission.

M2A3 Light Tank

The M2A3 Light Tank is a version of the M2A2. On this version the distance between the bogie trucks was larger. The turrets were also more isolated. Bogie trucks more isolated and more longer vertical springs provided to the tank a greater control. The back of the hull was also refitted to facilitate the access to the engine of which the system of cooling was improved. The transmission was of Synchromesh type. The shielding was also improved to reach by place the 22 mm. The engine was Continental W-670-9 of 7 cylinders developing 262 hp what allowed a maximum speed of 58 km/h.

If the M2A4 Light Tank were based on the M2A3, the two turrets of this last were replaced by only one octagonal turret equipped with a cupola of commander. This turret was armed with a gun 37 mm M5, a coaxial machine-gun of 7.62 mm (.30cal) and another machine-gun of 7.62 mm on anti-aircraft mounting to the back of the turret. Three other .30cal machine-guns were assembled on the glacis and the sponsons. The engine was a Continental W-670-9A equipped contrary to W-670-9 with a regulator.
